Lagging Economic Indicators

These measures indicate highs and lows in the business cycle after the economy as a whole has changed. The most notable lagging indicators are private sector plant and equipment spending, consumers installment credit, short term business loans, unemployment rate, labour costs and the level of inventories and inflation.
